A modern, passionate, abstract expressionist oil painting that harnesses the spirit of light and shadow. It is almost monochrone however there is so much subtle color throughout.
The Renaissance period, Classicism and Cubism are primary references for my work. I always begin in the representational and let the work evolve into the abstract or remain representational. Although divergent in process, my work at its core remains connected to the inspirations from which they were conceived. The subject matter whether portraiture, figurative, still life or landscape are important. And yet, the true subject and passion always lies in balance, symmetry, structure, shapes and spacial relationships.
An overall cleverly executed composition that captures a mood and energy.
All organic motifs and symbols are for the delight and interpretation of the viewer.
The sophisticated color palette is masterfully utilized with a clever play between warms and cools that invite the viewer to linger. There are several layers of glazing in oil paint highlighting a level of skill. Swift, loose brushstrokes showcase excellence, and an emotional connection to early modern abstraction.
