A beautiful and rare vintage circa 1890-1910s silverplated champagne bucket/cooler. This bucket is nice, heavy hotel quality and has an intertwined WL monogram on the front, which is the 1880s-early 1900s era logo for Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. Wagons-Lits was known for the finest railroad dining & sleeping cars, but most famously for being the creator and operator of the Orient Express luxury passenger train.
In excellent condition, no large dents or damage, just lots of the usual scrapes, bumps, dings, small marks, and signs of use you would expect from old railroad silver that was used daily. Marked on the front with a time-worn “WL”, on the base as made by Christofle.
Measures approximately 7.25 inches tall by 7 inches wide across the top opening.
