Early 20th Century, Ornate French Neoclassical Chenets/Andirons,Brass/Bronze/Iron Mix, Lyre/Harp, , A Pair,
A pair of Antique French Neoclassical Chenets/Andirons which boast a Torch and Lyre-Harp Motif.
Very heavy patina of the metal sculptures which are unmarked. While I do not have expertise in metallurgy, I cannot definitively state the composition of these pieces. I believe they are a bronze/brass spelter which may have been painted, hence the very dark patina. In the rear below a couple scrapes, they do appear to be bronze. Also the green oxidation usually seen on bronze pieces.
The legs are made of a rusty cast iron and I believe they have their original bolts & nuts, which will ship disassembled for a more secure package.
I believe these date to the turn of the century which could explain the heavy patina. They have a Lyre-Harp on the front and the top peaks seem to signify torches. There are four feet on each sculpture.
Size: 18" High, 8.25" Wide, 24" Long to the back of the leg (EACH PIECE).
These are very heavy weighing 14 lbs. 13 oz. each.
Condition: Displays wear consistent with age, cast iron legs are rusty, corrosiveness of sculptures, may have possibly been painted, knicks and green oxidation seen. May be bronze below paint/and or patina.
Net Wt. 29 lbs. 10 oz.
24x14x12 - 37 lbs.
