These 3 heavy bowls are hand thrown and kilned by skilled Artisans from Tuscany, a state in the upper middle portion on the western edge of the Mediterranean Sea. The clay in this part of Italy comes in purples and dark reds fading to tones of brown and terracotta. This is due to a small amount of iron oxide that is responsible for these astonishing colors that come from the clay that originate in the Tuscany region. The smallest amount of sand was added to the clay for texture. They were brought back to me by my son who lived in
Tuscany for a period in the 1990's. less
