Published in 1972 in an unnumbered limited edition by The Albright - Knox Art Gallery on the occasion of the exhibition at the museum in Buffalo New York. The poster print features an image of an original assemblage artwork created by Joseph Cornell.

Joseph Cornell ( 1903 - 1972 ) was an American artist and filmmaker, one of the most celebrated exponents of assemblage. Influenced by the Surrealists, he also was an avant - garde experimental filmmaker. he was largely self taught in his artistic efforts, and improvised his own original style incorporating cast off and discarded artifacts.

He lived most of his life in relative physical isolation, caring for his mother and his disabled brother at home, but remained aware of and in contact with other Contemporary artists of his time. Six major retrospective exhibitions have been held of Cornell's artworks including The Norton Simon Museum, The Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Albright - Knox, The Museum of Modern Art New York, The SF MOMA, and The Royal Academy of Arts London.

The rare out of print lithograph print exhibition poster measures 28" w X 22" H. It is printed on high quality paper stock with a matte satin finish. It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and very light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference.
