Large (over 2 feet to top of candle platforms) 19th century Portuguese Colonial pricket stand in the form of a seated cherub
At one time would have graced the top of a pedestal in a fine Portuguese home.
Carved, gesso and painted wood fitted with an iron candle support. Wood disk stand is a later addition.
Aging only adds to its charm and authenticity. Will garner much attention in any setting.
Condition
Areas of paint and finish wear and loss; nicks, chips, and old repairs. Overall solid. No missing pieces, or parts 'about to fall off'. Wire framing under gesso in good condition. less
