Offered here is a Native American Zuni handcrafted fetish necklace from the 1970s. Rows of graduated horizontally-set bone turtle fetishes are intricately carved and dyed, inlaid with tiny jet eyes. The fetishes are separated by strands of turquoise and heishi shell beads, with the entirety strung on sterling foxtail chain; it is finished at the ends with sterling cone caps and a hook closure. In Native American spiritual iconography, the turtle represents Mother Earth, and signifies good health and long life. This beautifully-wrought expression of that belief is an evocative work of art, and has a powerful "feel" to it. Dimensions: 31"L; center fetish, 1.5"L x 1.2"W x 0.5"H; fetishes range from 1" to 1.5"L
