Agano-yaki (Fukuoka prefecture) is said to have begun in 1602. Lightweight and elegant, Agano ware is famous for its tea cups (tea bowls), used in tea ceremonies. Agano ware strongly reflects the spirit of the tea ceremony, "wabi-sabi," which means "simple and quiet." It is not too conspicuous, yet has a certain presence. That is the greatest charm of Agano ware.
Bijinga literally means 'beautiful woman". With their outstanding elegance and gloss, the beautiful ladies are especially popular.
Authentic, kiln stamped in kanji on the bottom of the cup.
