This stunning collection of ten hand-colored engravings is framed in a luxurious black and gold Italian frame, each piece enhanced with an acid-free double mat in an elegant off-white shade. The conservation clear glass used in the framing preserves and showcases these artworks with exceptional clarity.
Each print originates from Giovanni Battista Passeri's renowned work, Picturae Etruscorum in Vasculis nunc primum in unum collectae, explicationibus, et dissertaionibus inlustrate, published in Rome by J. Zempel in 1767. This historic collection depicts vases from significant Italian collections, including many from the Galleria Clementina of the Vatican Library. Given that most of these vases have since been lost, these engravings serve as invaluable records of these ancient artifacts.
Passeri, a distinguished antiquarian focused on Etruscan civilization, used this work to reveal the remarkable artistry and innovation of the Etruscans—an influential culture often overshadowed by their Roman successors.
This collection of ten prints offers a rare and comprehensive view of Etruscan artistry and remains an essential part of the study of ancient civilizations.
