These elegant and stylish vintage side tables were created in Paris circa 1960. Attributed to Maison Jansen and square in shape, each table stands on spline brass legs ending with tapered feet; the table is further embellished with a double demi arched bottom stretcher. The surface is dressed with the original inset variegated green marble top, and features an additional glass shelf underneath for more display. The tall occasional tables are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich patinated gilt finish. The sleek, neoclassical end tables make these pieces the perfect addition to a living room of any style.
Maison Jansen is a Paris-based interior decoration office founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Jansen is considered the first truly global design firm, serving clients in France, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Middle East. Renowned for lavish, gilt-encrusted furniture that harks back to early French design and sleek, metallic-forward pieces that capitalize on Regency-era trends, Maison Jansen created some of the world’s most coveted furniture. At its height, Maison Jansen was also an international interior design powerhouse that employed dozens of designers. Yet it all began humbly enough with one man: Jean-Henri Jansen. Jean-Henri was in his twenties when he founded House of Jansen; while mystery shrouds much of Jansen’s early life, it’s known that he was incredibly well-connected and was trained under several prestigious apprenticeships. Without question, Jansen was also ambitious and tremendously talented.
