Offered for sale is a colorful watercolor on vellum by Israeli folk artist Raphael Ozen ( (b.1922, Sfat, Israel) c.1960. This wonderful watercolor depicts a story from the Bible in the Old Testament (Genesis 16:1–16; 17:18–26; 21:1–21). Abraham's wife Sarah was initially unable to bear children and therefore gave Abraham her maidservant Hagar to conceive an heir. Ishmael was born and brought up in Abraham's household.

Raphael Ozen was born in Nabel, Tunisia in 1922. In 1942, the Germans invaded Tunisia and established forced labor camps. Rafael's family pretended to be Muslim however, Rafael was caught and sent to a labor camp. He was detained in the camp for a short time but escaped. He was again caught and sent to forced labor in other camps. In May 1943, with the liberation of Tunisia by the Allied army, The artist was released and soon after married. In 1948 the family immigrated to France, and in 1949 they immigrated to Israel and settled in Safed, where he established an art gallery and also engaged in teaching.
