A 1958 limited edition abstract lithograph titled Illusion by the Japanese artist Kojin Toneyama (1921-1994). Titled, numbered 159/200, signed, and dated along bottom edge, this print has an abstracted design in bright yellow, blue, and black, with a shape similar to butterfly wings in the center. A geometric abstract bird head emerges from the top of the butterfly wings. This work comes unframed.
Kojin Toneyama was born in Ibaraki and attended Waseda University, graduating from the Literature Department in 1943. He was well known for his printmaking and was inspired by Mexican culture in his art. His works have been featured at the Art Institute of Chicago, amongst other prestigious organizations.
