Description: A seldom found brick red porcelain oviform Chinese ginger jar made in the city of Hong Kong in the middle … more A seldom found brick red porcelain oviform Chinese ginger jar made in the city of Hong Kong in the middle of the last century. The main feature are two rather magnificent pink scaled Qilin on either side as well as two panels portraying landscape scenes featuring the Eight Immortals. The mythical Xiezhi are rather amusingly if not somewhat frustratedly looking backwards towards the flaming pearl. The immortals are grouped correctly with an elephant, a tiger and other animals linked to the Chinese Zodiac. Traditional yellow and pink decorative neck border, all hand painted in enamel. Lucky double coins, ribbons, swords, gourds and gorgeous orange flowers throughout. An attractive and rare ginger jar of a good size.
