- These are a pair of vintage Venetian Grotto Seashell Scallop Shell bookends or door stoppers. They are quite heavy at … more These are a pair of vintage Venetian Grotto Seashell Scallop Shell bookends or door stoppers. They are quite heavy at 4 pounds each and I'm unsure of the material, but it could be a type of plaster or composite stone. They feature detailed scallop shells sitting atop a platform, finished in antique white highlighted with a gold wash. They are perfect as a set of bookends or heavy enough to use as doorstops. Each one measures 6" in width, 4.25" in depth, and 7.5" in height, and has felt attached to the bottoms to prevent scratching surfaces. These could also be utilized as wall shelves by turning them upside down and adding brackets on the back. The book featured in some of the photos is not included in sale. less
