This painting is so rare that l had never seen it in 25 years of collecting Lee Reynolds/Vanguard artwork and the online Lee Reynolds/Vanguard Studio Collectors Group had never seen this painting in person or in any catalogs either.
The warm, color palette which includes Purple/Violet, Robin's Nest Blue, Saffron Yellow, Adobe Red, and White are also a departure from his other paintings.
Adding to the Mid Century stylized design, he abstractly, outlines elements, of the image, with subtle black contouring lines.
The oil paint on this impasto painting is applied with a brush and a knife. This technique involves applying thick layers of paint to a surface, so the brushstrokes and knife marks are visible.
The canvas is framed in white wood
There is a faint line on the bottom where paint may have been rubbed off. Please see photos a part of description. The artwork is so huge that it takes very close scrutiny to even notice it.
