1960s Designer Miracle (Britain) Celtic pewter-finish art glass brooch. Ornate curved flourishes encircle open-back art glass stones created to resemble turquoise, chrysoprase, banded agate, and Connemara marble. Miracle specialized in creating jewelry that riffed on Victorian Scottish agate jewelry, and they did it brilliantly. The stones here are exquisitely varied and oh so real-looking. The larger center stone is a stunning recreation of a wide-banded agate in translucent orange and cream; black and chocolate banded agates are subtly striped, the turquoise is realistically webbed with matrix, the faux chrysoprase glows with inner light, and the Connemara marble captures the creamy essence of that legendary stone.
