This is part of Chairish’s Costume Jewelry assortment.
1900s antique Arts & Crafts sterling and amber rosebud brooch. A long undulating flower stem with winding tendrils and leaves is crowned with a carved amber rosebud. Meticulously hand-detailed, somewhat austere, the stylized stem and leaves lead the eye to the star of the show -- the carved amber rosebud. Sensual, exuberant, smooth and sleek, it bursts with new life and an inner glow. Themes in nature were a favorite subject of the Arts & Crafts movement, and this elegant creation is a perfect exemplar. The photos couldn't capture the rich depth of the amber, and the way light plays around and through it to bring it to thrilling life. A singular work of art, joyous and hopeful. Signed "925". 3.25"L x 1"W.
