Albert Silvestre was born in 1869 in Geneva and died in 1954 in Neuchâtel, Geneva.

Son of Henri, painter, and Isaline Joséphine.
He attended the School of Fine Arts and the School of Industrial Arts in Geneva from 1885 to 1892, then left to stay in Paris from 1892 to 1895. Landscape painter with a predilection for Savoy, Lake Geneva, Valais and Lake Neuchâtel, testifying to symbolist influences (Ferdinand Hodler, Edouard Vallet, Albert Trachsel). Professor at the Geneva School of Fine Arts (1895-1922). Prize of the Calame competition (1897), bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris (1900). Member (1909) and president (1911-1915) of the Federal Commission of Fine Arts, president of the Swiss Society of Painters, Sculptors and Architects until 1922.
He gave up painting between 1922 and 1932 under the influence of his wife Edmée. This piece has an attribution mark,
