Hand-knotted in wool circa 1910-1920, this 8x10 antique Persian rug of Khorassan provenance is a rare and particularly exciting new curation from the Rug & Kilim Collection.
On the Design:
A blue field underscores a particularly rare floral pattern—one of curving islimi leaves and palmettes similar to the Herati pattern, but with three rich red roses (or possibly fruits, such as apples or cherries) within. The same play of ice and navy blue, burgundy, and camel tones are found in the eight surrounding borders with floral scrolls surrounding—a particularly intricate and fabulous design befitting the reputation of Khorassan rugs for these and similar elements of a masterpiece. Admirers of the craft will appreciate this as an extremely collectible find among traditional rugs, enjoying the best of both rare and ideal elements in traditional rugs of its provenance.
Condition:
This antique Persian rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
