Description: This early 19th century French Provincial Buffet à Deux Corps is from Normandy, France. It is made of oak and … more This early 19th century French Provincial Buffet à Deux Corps is from Normandy, France. It is made of oak and the stain is dark, not reddish like the first picture, more the color of the picture with the basket of flowers. It is heavily and beautifully carved. The carvings depict a basket with flowers, sunflowers, tulips, grapes, leaves, fluted and lineal designs, and swags. The upper doors open to two shelves and the bottom doors open to one with ample storage in both units. The crown, top, bottom and doors all are single units making it easy to disassemble and move. The bottom front has snail feet and the back feet are plain. The overall height is 92 3/4". The height of the base alone is 39 1/2". The width at the widest point is 54 1/2" at the crown and 53" at the top of the base. The depth of the top unit is 17 1/2", the bottom unit is 20 1/8", and the crown is 21 1/4" deep. The hinges are a silver metal, probably pewter. The overall condition is very good. There is the typical wear of an antique piece of furniture dating to the 19th century. There is some wear to the corners of the bottom unit that are in the pictures, there is also a bit of a separation of the top right door at the bottom, it doesn't line up exactly with the left door (see picture). There is no flaw that keeps this piece from being outstanding! less
