Check out this pair of William Westerhaver WITCO Carved Burnt Cedar Column Table Lamps. In immaculate condition with original shag velvet lamp shades.
Unmarked but from extensive research have determined these are Witco.
In 1959, Robert Post Jr. and Artist William Westenhaver founded Witco, a company that embodied the exotica trend through extravagant and boldly carved wooden furniture and decor. Witco quickly gained popularity, becoming synonymous with Tropical and Hawaiiana styles. The brand's success can be attributed to its unique aesthetic, blending elements of Brutalist art and architecture with the spirit of the South Pacific. Witco's carvings are a testament to the company's craftsmanship, showcasing intricate layers and depth that highlight the natural wood grain. One of Witco's most notable patrons was Elvis Presley, who furnished his famous Jungle Room with the brand's pieces. Today, Witco remains a sought-after collectible among enthusiasts of mid-century design, and its legacy can be seen in iconic tiki venues such as Polynesian Gardens, the Hawaiian Inn, and the Aku Tiki Inn in Florida.
Live in style like THE KING himself! This pair is in great condition and an amazing piece from the heart of the period. Don’t let this hunk a, hunk a burning love slip away or you’ll be all shook up!
