About the photo and the photographer:

Karl Ferris recalls, "I did many album cover shoots and promo sessions with 'The Experience' at my Hampstead studio. After seeing the finished 'Are You Experienced' art, Jimi said, 'You are the only photographer doing what I am doing with my music--going far out beyond the usual limits'!".

Karl Ferris is a legendary music photographer, whose most prominent work was during the 1960's psychedelic scene. Although he started a fashion photographer, he rose to fame after working with musicians such as Cream, Donovan, The Hollies and of course Jimi Hendrix. less
