- I acquired this and other sculptures made from rose colored cantera stone from the estate of the late Charles Trombold, … more I acquired this and other sculptures made from rose colored cantera stone from the estate of the late Charles Trombold, an archaeologist at Washington University in St. Louis who devoted much of his career to excavations in Guanajuato, Mexico. He commissioned this evocative piece from a local sculptor in Guanajuato. Like a gargoyle, this depicts a creature with a human arms and torso, and a jaguar's head and feet. It is dated 1998 with Trumbold's name. I have used it for ornamentation in a garden, so it has a bit of greenish patina. This could be washed off or retained as one chooses. less
