It has richly gilt molded handles, rim, and foot, while the body is decorated with raised metallic gilt and pale green birds perched on bamboo branches against an ivory-colored ground.

The underside is fully marked with:
Artist’s Signature: Hand-painted interlaced letter monogram "LB," indicating Len Burgess (1861-1935), a RW decorator known for his raised gold paste work, which created a textured, three-dimensional effect on porcelain.
Victoria Regina Mark: Molded "VR" for Queen Victoria.
