Vintage cast bronze, brutalist medieval knight relief with copper embellishments. This charismatic mcm metal art wall ornament was hand crafted by Hungarian goldsmith Tamás Zoltán (1941-2023).
A unique goldsmithing creation is a beautiful cast piece, in perfect vintage condition. 18 x 16 x 4 cm.
“I am one of those lucky people who find their vocation in their work, the joyful meaning of most of their lives. This exciting craft, with an incredibly rich past and a rather complicated present, has been holding more and more wonderful surprises for me for decades to this day. Despite the fact that I have been active in many areas during the past fifty active years, I have always been - with consistent loyalty - within the framework of goldsmithing.”
He trained as a ceramicist, but when he applied for the ceramics department at the High School of Arts and Crafts, the quota was full, and there was only one vacant place in the goldsmith course.
He wasn't happy about this until he entered the goldsmiths' workshop for the first time, the atmosphere of which immediately captivated him. The strange milieu, the specific "smell" of the place, the strangely shaped tools unknown to him, the enamels in all the colors of the rainbow, the exhibited works of the students of the previous years, all fascinated him . As a result of this chance encounter, he found his profession, which he pursued with passion until the end.
He worked at the State Mint for a few years, then studied at the College of Applied Arts, where he later became a professional instructor. He was very prolific during this period. Jewellery, sculptures for home culture, works commissioned by the state, artistic quality tools, sculptures for various prizes, etc. out of his hands. His juried works were sold, among others, in the galleries of Képcsarnok Vállalat. In addition to his solo exhibitions, he was also awarded numerous prestigious awards as a participant in domestic and international exhibitions . He was the founding president of the National Association of Precious Metals. less
