Presented for purchase is a very special and rare collection of nine [9] vintage, mid century modernist creations by Hungarian ceramist Vilma Luria. A charming assemblage of vibrant, colorful hand crafted vases, votives, and candleholders in various shapes and sizes sure tho brighten any home environment. Marked, signed pottery, some with original stickers. A true treat for all mid century modern ceramic devotees!
Sizes range from 10 - 20 cm. In perfect vintage condition. A sublime choice as a wedding gift, housewarming gift, and any occasion which lets someone know they are loved!
She was quite an avante garde artist, already creating ceramic works in the 1950s and 1960’s which only decades later became truly popular. These decorative hand crafted ceramics are an ideal addition for any retro-inspired home. In perfect, beautiful condition.
After graduating from the Teacher Training College in Dombóvár, in the second half of the 1930s, she attended the 3-year Ceramics course at the Atelier in Budapest. From 1937, she created in a shared studio with her husband, ceramicist László Illés. From 1950 in the ceramics workshop of Sándor Szécsi, then in the XI. worked at the district Ceramics Manufacturing Cooperative. From 1961, she worked in her own workshop and distributed his serially produced works at the Hungarian Applied Arts Company [ Iparművészeti Vállalat ]. Vilma’s models were produced in series by the Gránit Factory in Budapest and the Kerámia Szövetkezet in Bodrogkeresztúr.
