Rare and sizable collector’s item! Beautiful, vintage Scandinavian style, green and yellow earth toned mid century wool wall hanging, tapestry with a delightful geometric minimalist landscape depicting women with horses, birds, flowers, and trees by Hungarian textile artist Éva Németh.
149 x 126 cm. Hand sewn monogrammed signature.
After graduating from the Hungarian Univerity of Arts and Design, Eva Nemeth textile designer started her career at the Csaba Cottage Industry Cooperation in Bekescsaba, Hungary. Here she designed rugs and tapestries that were handwoven from wool and other fine animal hair, hemp and rag.
She developed a unique style that was deeply rooted in scandinavian folklore, and frequently used motives of horses, birds, peacocks, flowers and trees as characters representing her attraction to nature. A prominent and recurring figure she called ‘Baba’, or child, can be seen created in many of her textile creations. Almost a hundred rugweavers would turn Eva Nemeth’s designs into beautiful, one-of-a-kind rugs, from the 1960s right until the end of the manufacture in the 1980s.
Please be aware that wrinkles WILL occur during packing & shipment …dry cleaning is recommended upon arrival.
