Certificate of Authenticity from Paul B. Victorius, Charlottesville, Virginia, is attached to the back.
This is a colored stipple engraving by or after Hans Holbein "In His Majesty's Collection" -- from the collection of England's King Henry VIII.
The subject of the portrait is Anne Cresacre, who was the ward of Thomas More, and was then betrothed to More's son, John. This drawing is one of seven fine surviving studies drawn by Holbein for his group portrait of Thomas More's family.
Text in the engraving reads:
"Pl. VIII." (upper right)
"Holbein" (lower left)
"Facius Sc." (lower right)
"In His Majesty's Collection." (lower center)
On the back is attached a COA from Paul B. Victorius of Charlottesville, VA.
Published circa 1812 by John Chamberlaine.
