A poelle being a cooking pan.This small village on the channel sea cultivates a long tradition of hand made copper wares.This piece from the "Maison lecellier" workshop is an early production clearly marked with the original "LeCelier" stamp from the 1930's . Not so common to come across these larger pieces that are very richly crafted with a variety of details. This one is assembled from 3 distinct tiers of hammered copper soldered together with a lot of finesse. This one is somewhat worn and dented and I suspect it was an actual working vessel more than just a decorative piece. Stunning collar detail !!! I have seen a lot of these copper pieces over the years and this one is very special. A true slice of French vernacular and craftsmanship. I discovered this piece in a open air "brocante" flea market near the city of Brest France. In excellent condition with a gorgeous patina only time can create. Polish at will for a flashier touch!! less
