- Provenance: I personally purchased this unique piece in 2015, during a stay at a cozy Bed & Breakfast called "Cimarron … more Provenance: I personally purchased this unique piece in 2015, during a stay at a cozy Bed & Breakfast called "Cimarron Rose Bed and Breakfast / Tierra Madre Arts Gallery" in the Zuni Mountains, Cimarron, New Mexico. The owner told me she acquired this piece directly from the artist. Zuni Native American wood carvings, intricate and culturally significant, often depict animals, supernatural beings (this mermaid a perfect example), and symbolic motifs, reflecting the Zunis' deep spiritual beliefs and connection to nature. Zuni artists showcase a unique blend of traditional techniques with contemporary creativity, resulting in vibrant and meaningful pieces representing the Zuni heritage. less
