The marble sits on the base and has a wonderful beveled edge with wonderful scallop design. As you can see, it's not perfectly round, which I love, as it's just a tiny bit more special. The marble has great color texture in it and an antique/aged quality. There are a few hairline issues and a small chip. I do not see the hairlines going through. I believe it is the natural part of the stone. The wood base itself, has beautiful curved legs and gold painted accents. less
