The title of the piece of art alludes to the Dogons, a group of people from Mali best known for their sculptures and mythological stories.

The artist's endeavour is "to bring out the joy of painting in his work, i.e. colour, fluidity, spontaneity..." His gesture, sharp and vigorous, is often visible on the canvas. He also leaves room for "accidents" (drops and dripping) which "can occasionally give something to a work, an energy, some joy, something unexpected."
