The brooch's three-dimensional domed design shows a … more 1940s designer Original By Robert gold-plated Maltese Cross brooch and clip earrings set. The brooch's three-dimensional domed design shows a round beveled disc of French jet black glass in the center, accented with textured leaves set with tiny black glass stones; the four arms of the cross have beaded borders surrounding large tapered ovals of French jet with gilded bevels. The earrings repeat the motif of the arms. The stones are quite extraordinary, I've never seen anything like them. The deep shiny black surface is set off by a wide band of gold leaf on the slanted bevels. The subtle texture and matte finish of the Russian gold plating sets off the stones to perfection. The workmanship is exquisitely detailed -- even the back is decorated with filigreed leaves. This is a rare and riveting statement piece. Excellent condition throughout. Signed "Original By Robert".
