Every now and again we get surprised, sometimes it's good and other times you’d like to forget. We recently purchased this mid-1800’s French Louis XVI Daybed and it was kind of a pig in a poke, for we really had no idea what we were purchasing. Well, in this case we were beyond happy with the purchase, for in the last 30-years this is clearly the finest quality and most original antique French Daybed we have ever had the privilege to offer. The quality of the carvings and all the intricate finite details are simply breathless and clearly executed by a master French artisan. Cosmetically, the paint and the 24kt water gilding have never been restored or as some may call it, “paint enhanced”. For someone looking for a Louis XVI Daybed, you will be hard-pressed to find a better, more original example than the daybed we are offering here. less
