Stylish, extra-large and ultra comfortable lounge chairs by Century Furniture from the late 20th-century Destinations Collection. So much attention to detail went into the making of this gorgeous pair! Just look at the sumptuous wide rolled backs and curved rolled arms, accented with smooth dusted brass nail head trim. Multi-step hand finished baluster bulb-turned legs with brass casters and ferrules on the front and gently splayed legs on the back are corner blocked, double screwed, doweled and glued. The amply sized contoured bench seat cushion is attached and offers well-balanced lofted seating comfort; also accented with two rows of smooth dusted brass nail head trim on the sides and front. The handcrafted hardwood exterior grade lumber wood frame assembly is free of knots and voids reinforced with corner block construction for excellent structural integrity. Joints are glued, stapled and screwed to ensure frame stability. The high gauge sinuous wire spring system (inside the back) is adhered together with a cardboard wrapped wire that is then hog-clamped across the middle so that the spring unit will work as a single unit. Also not seen but very important is the layering that takes place to shape the arms and sides. Underneath the upholstery fabric is a downy white layer of Dacron that encapsulates the outer layer of poly-foam that shapes the arm. This poly-foam also extends down into the inner arm as extra cushioning then an additional piece of poly-form is cut to rest atop this extra layer for added comfort; there may be as many as five layers on each arm. Each chair has multiple layers of Dacron batting, poly-foam (contains no flame retardants or harmful chemicals), Marshall Unit spring construction and 8-way hand tied spring base (tied with waxed twine which prevents squeaking). A Dacron layer encapsulates the entire wooden frame to provide softness, no feel of wood for discomfort (i.e. side of arms). Each seat cushion’s poly-foam core uses a mix of Dacron fiber for resiliency, double-laundered down feather blend “jacket” and down proof ticking; sewn channeling underneath the “jacket” prevents the down and Dacron mix from migrating forward or backwards in the cushion. The soft chenille-like multi-faceted fabric offers a depth of texture, pattern and color. The cross-hatch weave creates a visually pleasing pattern that is articulated by the main color which is an earthy russet that can vary in shade from a soft muted rusty brown with golden reddish orange undertones. The amount and type of lighting in a room does changes how the color reflects from subtle earthy brownish reddish rust tones to rusty brown with golden orange hues. The fabric’s hand is soft yet resilient made from 50% polyester and 50% acrylic which can be spot cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. In excellent condition with nominal age-appropriate wear. These are rather large chairs so do take into consideration, when measuring, to determine if the dimensions scale well in the room or space you have in mind. Together the pair weighs approximately 150 to 175 lbs. Each chair measures as follows:
