Offered here is a 1950s Hobé Mid-Century parure consisting of a three-strand draping necklace, coil memory bracelet, and clip-back earrings. All pieces are created from combinations of round composite beads in gray-purple and iridescent hues, bicone smoke crystals, clear rondelles, and aurora borealis crystal clusters in black japanned filigree. The necklace is strung on silver chain, and finished with silver-plated findings and a smoke crystal tail. The three-strand bracelet is on a stiff but flexible wire frame with dangling end crystals. The earring clusters are additionally embellished with tiny prong-set Aurora Borealis crystals on raised spikes. This is a ravishing and singular offering from the House of Hobe, with a subtle and seductive glamour. Hobe was founded in France in 1887 by Jacques Hobe, making fine jewelry; his son William added costume jewelry to their repertoire in 1927, and was commissioned by Flo Ziegfeld to create jewelry for the Follies. The most desirable designs are the sterling pieces from the Forties and these beaded confections from the Fifties, made with all manner of exotic specialty stones found nowhere else. This complete parure is extremely rare to find complete, and will draw every eye in the room with its elegance and darkling dazzle. It is in flawless pristine Condition. Signed "Hobé."
