A 1977 limited edition lithograph by the Navajo-American artist Rudolph Carl Gorman (1931-2005). Titled Taos Pueblo Woman, the print is characterized by minimal black lines outlining the figure of a woman in the center of the piece wrapped in a cloak with black fringe falling from the sleeves. Unframed, the print is signed by artist and dated to the to the lower left and numbered 7/50 to the lower right.
Born in Chinle, Arizona, Gorman grew up in a traditional Navajo hogan where he learned about his family's artistic lineage and inspired him to pursue art. After serving in the US Navy, he studied literature and art at Norther Arizona University and later went on to study at Mexico City College where he was inspired by the art of Diego Rivera. He had his first exhibition in 1963 and continued creating and exhibiting his art for 42 years. less
