A very rare set of eight Viennese stackable chairs designed by Austrian architect Prof. Karl Schwanzer and manufactured by Thonet … more A very rare set of eight Viennese stackable chairs designed by Austrian architect Prof. Karl Schwanzer and manufactured by Thonet in the 1950s.

The chairs are made of a dark brown stained (almost black) backrest and clear painted wood.
The offered version of the chairs have screwed-on round metal pieces on the sides with an opening in the middle. This mechanism was used to create rows of chairs in cinemas or event halls.
This chair was designed by Karl Schwanzer for the Werkbundausstellung in the "Academie der bildenden Künste" in Vienna in 1953. less
