Originally configured to open from the top, the chest was modified with front-facing doors by our carpenters skilled in traditional joinery. The interior has been updated with a single shelf for additional storage and is ideal today as a sideboard or credenza. Once painted with bright colors, the cabinet has been stripped to reveal the raw beauty of its pinewood construction, marked by traces of the original painted finish and speckled with knots and burls throughout the grain.
