A special, poetic and currently out of production Floor Lamp designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for the Italian company " Flos " during the 80s. In 2007 John Galliano designed a summer collection for Christian Dior inspired by the famous opera by Giacomo Puccini "Madama Butterfly" but Afra and Tobia Scarpa anticipated him by thirty years with this floor lamp. Stem in black enamelled aluminum, surmounted by a dimmable halogen lamp; a pair of acid-etched glasses encloses and shields the bulb. The magic and mystery comes to the head of this 80s Floor Lamp, with 2 large pleated fabric folding fans, 68cm wide, which can be moved like in a traditional dance performance by a Geisha or Maiko in order to screen or increase the intensity of the light. The reference to Japan is found not only in the fan shape of the speakers but also in the fabric in which they are made, which recalls the rice paper. The lamp is working and in good vintage condition. It has a single imperfection visible in the photos, a scratch on the black metal stem. Please note, we do not have replacement fans for sale for this model of lamp nor do we sell those mounted on this floor lamp, separately from the base.
