Large Centerpiece Scale 19th C. English Pedestal Bowl.

Classic transferware style and technique, in unusual green on white floral + vines in two related patterns - an expression of the classic English cottage garden aesthetic. Subtle gold gilt trim around perimeter and base.

14" wide at the top, 8" diameter on the pedestal and 8" tall overall. Makes a big statement.

Makers Mark on the bottom confirms its proper British period ceramic pedigree.

We have enjoyed this bowl since the 1990s, when we brought it home from a trip to England (a Portobello Road find - back when it was easier to just carry your treasures home in carry ons and checked luggage!) It has been a centerpiece in several places in both our homes, with fruit of course, my husband's vast collection of matchbooks (remember those?), croquet and billiard balls for color, and to float beautiful blooms in season. It is everything good about 19th C. porcelains, and not so dear that you can't live with it and enjoy it! less
