This remarkable piece is inspired by an item exhibited at Sotheby's "Inspired by Chatsworth" exhibition in New York, from June 28 to September 13, 2019.

Artistic Heritage:

Our table top draws inspiration from an Italian scagliola piece dating to the second half of the 18th century, likely of Tuscan origin. Scagliola, a technique revived in the late 16th century, involves using plaster and crushed selenite with colored pigments to create a marble-like finish. This method, referred to as pietra di luna (moonstone) in Italy, was a more affordable alternative to inlaid marble and hardstones, known as pietre dure.
