Released in 1969 and 1970 by McCormick Distilling Company of Weston, MO and created by McCoy Pottery, this special edition set of 4 decanter train cars contains 8 pieces total: the (empty) decanters and lids on each with attached cork stoppers. Modeled after the California Pacific Railroad, this vintage, mid 20th century set now functions as a charming group of figurines - - perfect bar decor or even quirky holiday decor! Each piece is painted in rich colors with gold detailing and a matte finish.
Maker's mark labels with original liquor contents are affixed to each car. Maker's marks are also embossed in the pottery underneath each car and read, "Commemorative Edition created by B. Harness for McCormick" with the McCoy Pottery pitcher logo and MCP initials. Production years are also embossed: 1969 (on locomotive and coal car) and 1970 (on passenger and mail cars).
Measurements of each car:
Locomotive, "Jupiter" = 13" long x 3 1/2" wide x 8" tall
Passenger car, "Leland Stanford" = 9.75" long x 3 3/4" wide x 4 1/2" tall
Mail car = 8 1/2" long x 4" wide x 4 1/2" tall
Coal car, "Jupiter" = 8" long x 3 1/2" wide x 5" tall

Nearly perfect with one small, horizontal chip at base of smoke stack on locomotive. Some surface scuffs on ceramic, possibly from pieces rubbing together. 3 of the 4 corks have broken in half - to be expected for age of this set. 2 of the broken corks are still stuck in openings, but could probably be removed. Mail car cork is still intact. Lid on locomotive does not sit level due to angle of break in the cork - this can probably be aesthetically corrected using a pin between the cork halves, or another creative solution. All pieces could be gently cleaned with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust. Condition is consistent with age and history. less
