The subject's gaze appears tentative and the low light and hooded wrap add to the sense of mystery of this unsigned piece. Would be striking hung on its own or as part of a grouping. Painted on linen board, which shows a small bubble at top center from where a frame nail had pressed on it in the past. Oak frame shows some gaps at corners as well as a chip to lower right corner, which has been touched up with black paint in the past. See less
