Known as a Naturalist painter, (a form of Post-Impressionism), Blondeau was a student of both Jules Lefebvre and, American expatriate, Daniel Ridgway Knight at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Cabanel. For a period of time, Blondeau worked alongside Ridgway Knight in Knight's atelier outside of Paris. Clearly, Ridgeway Knight influenced Blondeau's work; especially encouraging his movement away from watercolors towards oil painting.

Commencing in 1904, Blondeau exposed at the Salon des Artists Francais, Paris. He obtained an honorable mention in 1906 and became a full member of the society in 1911. He had a marked preference for painting the landscapes of the Loire Valley as this post-impressionist painting beautifully exemplifies. The soothing, pastel pallet used on for this work is indicative of Blondeau's work. This oil on canvas is framed in an 18K gold leaf high quality frame from Paris.

Charming details contained within this work, from the subtleties of pair of ladies relaxed next to the pond to the gentleman suitor invoking casual conversation. Works of this nature by Blondeau have traded at auction in the $10-12000 range.
