The case is finely engraved … more A fine antique Imperial Russian engraved silver and niello tobacco box/case, 1886, Moscow, Alexander Fuld.
The case is finely engraved with engraved niello designs, the hinged lid having an architectural view, the underside of the case with a geometric niello design with a central engraved open cartouche that is free from an engraved monogram or name. The case is stamped to the inside base with the Imperial mark for Moscow & the Assayer's mark "A.P." and the date of 1886, the silver maker's marks seem to be for Alexander Fuld, the inside lid is also stamped with the maker's mark and "84".
The hinged lid is spring loaded and opens easily with a push button and closes tightly, condition is very good.
