Numbered in pencil -- XXXI/L. Signed in pencil in lower right corner. Published in 1983.

Erté was born Roman Petrovich Tirtov, to a distinguished military family in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 1910 he would move to Paris and change his name to avoid embarrassing his family so he could work as an artist. Erté would go onto an illustrious career as a costume, set designer, artist and illustrator working on The Follies Bergère, The Ziegfeld Follies and for publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Ladies Home Journal, Cosmopolitan and Vogue. less
