Made in Japan in the 1950's by Pat Yoshikawa, this XL handcrafted walnut storage case's drawer fronts features a Japanese … more Made in Japan in the 1950's by Pat Yoshikawa, this XL handcrafted walnut storage case's drawer fronts features a Japanese wood joinery method known as "sashimono", which is a technique of joining more mortising wood without the use of nails or glue. The intent is a "blind joint", so they are barely noticeable. Although they appear delicate, the technique produces a strong joinery that lasts for generations. If you look closely at the tops of the drawers, you can see how the carved decorations on the drawer fronts have been inserted into the frame of the drawer.

There are six separate compartments. On either side there is one single drawer on top of one twice as deep. The top middle is a shallow and wide compartment, and below there is a hinged doors which reveals a mirror that sits behind slotted rows intended for smaller items such as rings, pins, and earrings. The lining is a sunny yellow velveteen that has absolutely no flaws, stains, or odors as well as brass fixtures.

The unit is very spacious, measuring approximately 18.25" wide, 7.5" deep, and stands 8.6" tall. less
