This Constantin Terechkovitch very rare vintage 1962 " Menton Mer Monts et Merveille " hand signed Mourlot fine art lithograph print extra large custom framed French travel poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Mourlot Imp. Paris, printed in France in 1962 in an unnumbered limited edition to promote tourism in Menton and The Cote D'Azur internationally. It features an iconic artwork image created by Terechkovitch titled " Menton Mer Monts et Merveille " ( Menton Sea Mountains and Wonder ). The lithograph print is hand signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right bottom corner front.
The Cote D'Azur and Menton also known as the French Riviera, is located on The Mediterranean coastline in The South of France. The warm climate and vivid colors attracted many famous artists during the first half of The 20th Century including Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, and Constantin Terechkovitch. All of whom left a strong mark in The South of France, both culturally and emotionally.
Constantin Terechkovitch ( 1902 - 1978 ) the Russian born Expressionist artist spent most of his life and career in France. He is from a family background of intelligentsia of artists and intellectuals. Trained in the acclaimed Moscow School of Art, he later found his home in the ex-patriot creative community in The Montparnasse Neighborhood in Paris. There he became friends with a group of Avant-Garde artists including Pierre Bonnard, Chaim Soutine, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, and Marc Chagall. After World War II he moved to Menton on The French Riviera. Known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic his style is heavily influenced by both Impressionism and Fauvism.
The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.
This fine art poster is one of the very desirable of the collaboration and partnership between the artist Terechkovitch and Atelier Mourlot who together would create beautiful and important art posters. An example of this same poster is held in the permanent archive collections of many museums worldwide.
beginning in the 1930's Fernand Mourlot invited the major artists of the time into the lithography studio to learn the medium of printing together. Encouraging the artists to work directly on the lithography plates to create original prints and posters in limited editions. The results of this artistic collaboration between master artists and Mourlot became internationally known for their originality, beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship.
The commune of Menton is located in The Cote D'Azur region of France, along The Mediterranean Sea. It previously divided France and Genoa before Italy unified in The Late 1880's. Although historically a popular tourism town for hundreds of years, Menton rose in prominence in the 1800's as a town to breathe in fresh air amid the Tuberculosis epidemic. It is still popular today as a peaceful destination along The Riviera Coastline.

The rare out of print extra large format framed lithograph print French travel poster measures 26 1/4" W X 40 1/8" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern recessed beveled detailed matte eggshell finish navy royal blue wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse bak side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " condition.
