This Andy Warhol estate very rare vintage 1990 first edition offset lithograph print custom framed extra large Pop Art poster " Pepsi Cola " 1962, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is published by Nouvelles Images S.A. Editeurs, Lombreuil France, printed in 1990 in France with the authorized licensed rights of The Estate and Foundation of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
The " Pepsi Cola " image first created by Warhol in 1962, is one of the artist's most coveted artworks. Although Warhol's brand image borrowings represent a specific limited segment of his work during this period, they include some of his most iconic artworks of The Early Sixties. Between 1962 and 1964, Warhol had four solo exhibitions in The United States, two of which were devoted exclusively to brand image artworks, Campbell's Soup, Coca-Cola, Brillo Boxes, and Pepsi Cola, among others.
These artworks have remained central to his reputation and oeuvre since they were first exhibited. The " Pepsi Cola " artwork demonstrated his interest in the role of advertising and consumerism in popular culture. The social significance of these iconic images were not simply a means to sell products, but had become an integral part of American Pop Culture. The rare out of print extra large format offset lithograph print framed Pop Art poster measures 27 3/4" W X 39 1/2" H X 1" D.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish royal blue metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age and very light signs of handling.
